My name is Kenia, and I’m a tattoo artist from Mexico, with seven years of experience in the art of tattooing. Art has been part of my life since childhood, with drawing—especially charcoal and pencil—being my first passion. I never had formal art training, so I developed my skills by observing other artists, studying their work, and practicing constantly. That self-taught foundation continues to shape the way I approach tattooing today.
A STYLE ROOTED IN TECHNIQUE
My favorite styles to tattoo are blackwork and whip shading, while I also have a deep appreciation for traditional Japanese and Chicano tattooing. Although they are very different styles, I admire the technique, structure, history, and strong identity behind each of them. My journey as an artist has taken me from Mexico to California and now to South Carolina, giving me the opportunity to continue learning, growing, and evolving along the way.
EVERY TATTOO HAS A STORY
For me, tattooing is about more than creating an image on skin. I love hearing the story behind each client’s idea and working together to turn it into something personal and unique. I approach every design with care, dedication, and respect, knowing that each tattoo carries its own meaning for the person wearing it.
Outside of tattooing, my family is my greatest source of inspiration. They encourage me to keep creating, learning, and exploring my art in new ways. What began as an unexpected challenge became a passion—and tattooing has never felt like just a job to me.
Me llamo Kenia y soy una tatuadora mexicana con siete años de experiencia en el arte del tatuaje. El arte ha formado parte de mi vida desde la infancia; el dibujo —especialmente con carboncillo y lápiz— fue mi primera pasión. Nunca recibí formación artística formal, por lo que desarrollé mis habilidades observando a otros artistas, estudiando su obra y practicando constantemente. Esa base autodidacta sigue definiendo mi enfoque actual del tatuaje.
UN ESTILO BASADO EN LA TÉCNICA
Mis estilos favoritos para tatuar son el *blackwork* y el sombreado tipo *whip shading*, aunque también siento una gran admiración por el tatuaje tradicional japonés y el estilo chicano. Aunque son estilos muy diferentes, admiro la técnica, la estructura, la historia y la fuerte identidad que hay detrás de cada uno de ellos. Mi trayectoria como artista me ha llevado de México a California y ahora a Carolina del Sur, brindándome la oportunidad de seguir aprendiendo, creciendo y evolucionando en el camino.
CADA TATUAJE TIENE UNA HISTORIA
Para mí, tatuar va más allá de crear una imagen sobre la piel. Me encanta escuchar la historia detrás de la idea de cada cliente y trabajar en conjunto para transformarla en algo personal y único. Abordo cada diseño con cuidado, dedicación y respeto, consciente de que cada tatuaje conlleva un significado propio para quien lo lleva.
Fuera del mundo del tatuaje, mi familia es mi mayor fuente de inspiración. Ellos me animan a seguir creando, aprendiendo y explorando mi arte de nuevas formas. Lo que comenzó como un desafío inesperado se convirtió en una pasión; por eso, para mí, tatuar nunca ha sido simplemente un trabajo.
